Now that I have your attention…
I’m trying to get back to blogging on a more regular basis. I find I blog more whenever I’m actually in writing mode as opposed to editing / promoting mode. I started working on a new book this past Saturday and after a solid 4 days, I have about 40K words. I never really look at word count too much, except to try to keep it under 100K words (which is tough for me. Every book I’ve written so far averages about 105K words.)
Anyway, I digress. A lot of people ask me what my favorite part of writing my books is. That’s hard to say. I love creating characters for people to read about and feel a connection to. I love creating a love story. But I can most certainly tell you what my least favorite part of writing is… Writing sex scenes. I HATE HATE HATE HATE writing them. I would rather go to the gynecologist every day for a year than have to write a sex scene. I would rather sit through listening to “Call Me, Maybe” for 24 hours straight on repeat than write a sex scene.
But, they’re necessary. In my opinion anyway. Now, for the record, I do not write erotica. My novels do not fall into that category and I have vehemently opposed categorizing them as such. Sex is not the story in my books. Sex is used in my books to further character and the relationships between the characters. And as such, I feel is necessary. As a reader, we want to get into the characters heads, feel what they’re feeling, particularly when they’re most vulnerable. And sometimes that vulnerability rears its ugly head during sex.
I remember when I first began writing and I reached the point in my story where my two MCs first had sex. I can’t even tell you how many times I got up and left my laptop. I even think I may have walked over to the laptop, glared at it, and gave it a piece of my mind using some rather colorful language. (To be exact, I called it a blood-curdling cock-sucker. I still remember that.)
As time went on, I stopped swearing at my laptop before writing sex scenes. Now I just get up from my laptop and start doing arm crosses in front of me as I pace the house. Upstairs. And downstairs. And upstairs. And downstairs. Now the hubs can pretty much always tell when I’m about to write a sex scene. It never gets any easier, but at least it not longer intimidates me. And the hubs is always happy to make himself available for chapter rewrites.

All November, you always see posts on Facebook of people saying what they’re thankful for each day. Call it 30 days of thanks. I never really do that. Not for any selfish reason of anything, but I’m thankful for everything I have every day, as I’m sure most people are.
This year, I feel particularly blessed. If you told me last year on Thanksgiving that by that time next year I’d have written three books, published one, and be close to publishing the second, I’d laugh in your face. If you told me that I would be an Amazon Best Seller, I’d tell you to take another hit off your joint. But here I am, close to the end of 2013 and extremely thankful for everything that has happened this year. There have been a lot of ups (YAY for people liking my writing!), a few downs (we lost the baby at our 10 week ultrasound), but through this roller coaster of life, I will always remain thankful. Thankful for my husband who supports me no matter what. Thankful for my fans who are absolutely incredible. Thankful for my parents who instilled a love of reading when I could barely walk. Thankful for my sisters who always inspired me.
So, in celebration of thanks, this weekend I’m lowering the price of “A Beautiful Mess” to just $.99. I wish you all the best and safest of Thanksgivings. And no matter what holiday you celebrate, I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and are able to spend time with your love ones.
Much Love. T.K. :-)

So, for those of you who haven’t heard yet, this year the first full day of Hanukkah coincides with Thanksgiving. This won’t happen again for another 79,000 years. Can you believe that? So what better way to mark this historic event than giving back to my fans. After all, this is the time of year when we all like to show our thanks to those people who have supported us throughout the year. I can’t even begin to thank everyone for helping me and supporting me through this crazy publishing journey that just a few short months ago I had no intention of embarking on.
So in celebration, today, November 27th, “A Beautiful Mess” will be FREE all day on Amazon. Get it here!!!!
****Note – This post is set to auto-publish shortly after midnight PST. The book is set to drop in price at midnight PST or shortly thereafter. Just verify that it is free before 1-clicking.******
I haven’t done a contest or anything in a while and I miss it… So I’m going to do one, and it’s going to run for a few weeks…. There will be three prizes… First will be a BETA copy of “A Tragic Wreck.” Second will be a signed paperback of “A Beautiful Mess”. And third will be $10 Amazon Gift Card.
What do I have to do, you ask… Simple. Create a graphic teaser using one of your favorite quotes or passages from “A Beautiful Mess” and PM it to me on my Facebook author page. If you don’t already, like me here. I will leave submissions open until 8 PM Cali time on November 11th. At that point I will collect them all and put them in a photo album on my Facebook page and open up voting on the submissions. (Voting will remain open until November 18th at 8 PM Cali time…) The ones that got the top 3 number of votes wins! (If there’s a tie, Rafflecopter will decide the winner…)
What are you waiting for? Send in your teasers today! (You can submit as many as you want!) And if you haven’t read “A Beautiful Mess” yet, this is a great opportunity for you to win a BETA version of the second book in the series!!!
And here are some examples of what a graphic teaser is… It’s exactly what it sounds like, it’s a graphic image with a quote or passage from “A Beautiful Mess” on it.
