Heart of Light Official Blurb

I know we’re all getting excited about the release of the third and final book in my Beautiful Mess series, Gorgeous Chaos in just 33 days on May 5, 2014, but I have released the official blurb for my current work in progress, Heart of Light. For those of you who have read A Tragic Wreck, you may remember the sexy surfer, Cam. Well, this is his journey…

RECOMMENDED FOR AGES EIGHTEEN AND UP DUE TO EXPLICIT SEXUAL SITUATIONS, STRONG LANGUAGE, DRUG USE, AND GRAPHIC VIOLENCE.

Twelve years ago, Jolene’s adoptive mother died. Twelve years ago, a man showed up at Jolene’s door and promised to take care of her. Twelve years ago, Jolene was happy. Then it all changed…

Jolene Bergio has spent the last twelve years of her life asking one question… Why? Why was she left in the custody of a man who would sell her each and every night to the highest bidder? After a few years, she shut off, giving up hope that anyone would ever find her. Until her luck changed one night and she escaped.

Twelve years later, she finally feels something she hasn’t felt in a long time… Free.

Almost.

Scared that her past will find her unexpectedly, she hides away in a rented beach house, trying to distance herself from everyone… Until Dr. Cameron Bowen enters her world and slowly tears down the walls that she has built up over the past twelve years of her captivity. Jolene begins to learn to love again.

And trust again.

But when a man from Jolene’s past emerges, will she be able to keep her identity hidden? When lies are told and hearts are broken, will the truth surface in time to bring Jolene back from the shadows that threaten to expose who she really is?

Heart of Light is a captivating story of love, strength, and survival.

In Case You Missed It…

Okay… So first… I’m sorry that I haven’t really been blogging much lately. Things have been CRAZY busy. But I’m going to try to do more blogging in the future. (I know, I know… I’ve said this before.)

And I’ll try to do some posts that aren’t just book related so y’all can see what a day in the life of the crazy T.K. Leigh is like.

Anyway, I had a great little cover reveal party last week on Facebook to celebrate the cover of the final book in my Beautiful Mess series, Gorgeous Chaos. During that party, a few friends stopped by the hang out… The schmexy Alexander Burnham and the gorgeous surfer Cam.

Cam made a little announcement. That’s right. In November of 2014, I will be publishing a new book titled Heart of Light and the male main character will be none other than our favorite Florida surfer, Cam.

Here’s a little snippet to hold you over.

THIS IS UNEDITED AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE BEFORE PUBLICATION.

“You know what? I won’t take whatever you can give me, Jolene,” he said fervently. “I’ve made that speech to quite a few girls in the past, and I’m not going to do it again. Here’s the thing.” He looked down before returning his eyes to hers, the fire behind them practically melting her.

“I want you, and I know you have your issues. I understand that, but I will do all that I can to make sure that you’re able to move past them…with me. I know it sounds crazy and that we’ve only known each other for a short period of time, but there’s something about you that I’m drawn to. I can’t explain it and I’m not even going to try to understand it. All I do understand about this whole fucked up attraction is that I want you in my life, Jolene. God, I want that more than anything I can remember wanting in recent history.”

Jolene could feel her heart thumping in her chest as she listened to Cam’s passionate plea. A strange emotion began coursing through her body and she didn’t know what to think of it, confused at how she could have such strong and intense feelings for someone that early on in her relationship with him.

“I want to wake up every morning and look at your smiling face as you watch the sunrise. I want my heart to skip a beat every time I catch you checking me out. I love that. I don’t want you to ever stop doing that, because I’ll tell you a secret. I’ve been checking out your body since the day we met and you walked away from me, calling me a prick or ass or whatever colorful words you chose to use. God, Jolene,” he hissed under his breath, his chest heaving. “The way you sway your hips.” He lowered his voice, his eyes becoming dark with desire. “It makes me fucking crazy, and don’t even get me started on your legs.”

Cam took a deep breath, hoping his words didn’t scare her. He smiled when he noticed her breathing increase, her chest rising and falling in a more rapid pattern. Her face was flush and her expression intense. She didn’t look scared at all. She actually looked rather turned on. “I will be patient,” he said. “But I want to feel those legs wrapped around me more than you can possibly imagine.”

Gorgeous Chaos Release Date

So, I’m doing a blog post on this because I get this question, oh about 100 times a day. LOL.

The third and final book of my Beautiful Mess series will be released on May 5, 2014.

Now, I know a lot of you are asking why it’s taking so long when I wrote the entire series last summer.

Well, I’ll tell you why… Because I refused to publish anything than my absolute best effort. Yes, the manuscript was written all at once, but I revisit constantly, making sure that the story flows. After spending months getting A Tragic Wreck ready for publication, I just recently needed to revisit Gorgeous Chaos and make a few changes.

Also, it needs to be edited. I have a wonderful editor and unfortunately, the good editors get busy. I wouldn’t want anyone else in the world to put their hands on this manuscript. Finding a good editor is like finding a great hair stylist. Once you find someone who you click with and knows what you want without you having to say a word, you don’t give up on that relationship just because they’re busy. You, my fans, mean too much to me for me to publish a mediocre effort and I will not do it.

Too many independent authors these days try to publish their book without having it professionally edited and it distracts from the story. The story in my books is so important and I don’t want anything to distract you from it.

So I beg for your patience while I get this book edited. I would love nothing more than to be able to publish it right now, but there’s no way in hell I’m doing that without it being edited. Unfortunately, I also have five signing events over the next two months that will also take me away from my manuscript, but being able to interact and meet my fans is a top priority. I assure you that both my editor and I are working as quickly and diligently as possible in order to publish this book in as expeditiously a manner as possible.

If I can publish it any sooner, I absolutely will. Thanks for your loyalty and for understanding that a lot more goes into publishing a book than simply writing a story.

***T.K. Leigh’s A Tragic Wreck Release Week Blog Party – DAY SIX***

BLOG-PARTY

Thanks everyone for joining us for all the fun over the past week. So, the big question is “What’s next? What’s going to happen in the third book?”

Well, I can’t tell you. I don’t want to ruin the reading experience for you. But here’s the book blurb for Gorgeous Chaos.

How long can you keep a secret from the one you love? How can you possibly say the words that will rip both your worlds apart?

Finally able to face her fears of abandonment, Olivia Adler begins to prepare for the next phase of her life. But Alexander Burnham is still holding on to all the secrets about Olivia’s past, trying to protect her. As days go by, Olivia is slowly starting to remember her past and Alexander realizes it’s only a matter of time until she puts all the pieces together and figures out who he is…

And who she is…

But if she remembers, her life could be in even more danger than it already is. And Alexander cannot have that happen. When the shadows of Olivia’s past threaten not only her life, but also those around her, will Alexander finally put Olivia’s needs ahead of his? Will she be able to put all the pieces of her past together in order to save her own life and those she’s close to? Can she figure out who she can trust and who is threatening her very existence? Gorgeous Chaos is the explosive conclusion to T.K. Leigh’s Beautiful Mess series.

Recommended for ages 18 and up due to explicit sexual situations, strong language, and graphic violence.

Oh hell… While we’re talking about Gorgeous Chaos, here’s a little snippet…

A tear started to run down Alexander’s cheek as he continued talking, bringing Olivia’s body flush with his, holding her face in his hands. “This is what we do, Olivia. This is who we are… We fight. We piss each other off. But at the end of the day, we realize that no matter how mad and angry we are at each other, there is something much bigger at work here. You can stay angry at me all you want, love, but you know, deep down, that you cannot live without me. You love me just as much as I love you and nothing will ever come between that.” He wiped the tear that had fallen down Olivia’s cheek as he stared into her eyes, searching for an answer.

“I can’t do this right now,” she said quietly, turning away from him and down the long corridor…

T.K. Leigh, otherwise known as Tracy Leigh Kellam, is a producer / attorney by trade. Originally from New England, she now resides in sunny Southern California with her husband, dog and three cats, all of which she has rescued (including the husband). She always had a knack for writing, but mostly in the legal field. It wasn’t until recently that she decided to try her hand at creative writing and is now addicted to creating different characters and new and unique story lines in the Contemporary Romantic Suspense genre.

Her debut novel “A Beautiful Mess” has garnered relative praise, having been an Amazon Best Seller, an Amazon Top-Rated book. Recently, the book was named by The Guardian as a top reader-recommended self-published book of 2013 as well as a 2013 Reader’s Favorite in Publisher’s Weekly in addition to being named an Amazon Romance Editor’s Fan Favorite for Top Debut Author and Best Page Turner.

When she’s not planted in front of her computer, writing away, she can be found running and training for her next marathon (of which she has run over fifteen fulls and far too many halfs to recall). Unlike Olivia, the main character in her Beautiful Mess series, she has yet to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

***T.K. Leigh’s A Tragic Wreck Release Week Blog Party – DAY FIVE***

BLOG-PARTY

Happy Friday! I hope y’all have enjoyed hanging out and following this little blog party this week as you reacquaint yourselves with Olivia and Alexander. I think a lot of people root for these two to succeed as a couple so much because of the history and connection there. Alexander has loved this girl his entire life and who couldn’t just swoon over that?

best-friends

As a reward for sticking with me all week, what do you say to a bonus scene from A Beautiful Mess?

Well, you’re in luck. Here it is. This is what is known as Chapter 23, Something You Feel. It happens the night after Alexander and Olivia finally reconcile. The first part is in the published version. And then it gets a little steamy (which is not in the published version.)

THIS EXCERPT CONTAINS STRONG LANGUAGE AND EXPLICIT SEXUAL SITUATIONS. 18 AND OVER ONLY.

“Come. I want to show you something,” Alexander said to Olivia after they finished eating their dinner of salmon, roasted red potatoes, and asparagus. They had spent all day together after Alexander took Olivia back to her house to gather some things she would need for the weekend.

They had gone to Olivia’s gym later in the morning after eating a breakfast of egg white omelettes with broccoli, spinach, mushrooms and feta cheese that Olivia had made. Alexander thought that she was a fantastic cook. The dinner reaffirmed that thought.

Olivia had spent most of the day snuggled up on Alexander’s couch reading a book on her e-reader and scratching Runner’s belly as he cuddled next to her. Alexander sat on the other end of the couch going over case reports. He disappeared into his study every so often, closing the door to make a phone call. Olivia didn’t mind. She figured there were some things he was working on that were classified.

“Where are we going?” she asked when Alexander grabbed her hand, pulling her along with him down the stairs.

“You’ll see,” he winked. Olivia smiled at the twinkle in his eyes. He was so excited to show her wherever it was they were going.

He led her down a hallway past two spacious guest bedrooms before stopping outside a door. Beaming from ear to ear, he opened it, allowing Olivia to enter before him. She couldn’t believe her surroundings. In the middle of the enormous room stood a beautiful Steinway baby grand piano. Dozens of guitars hung on the walls. There were also amps, a drum kit, and various other instruments scattered throughout the room. It was a musician’s dream come true.

“Why do you have all this?” she asked. “Do you play?”

“Yeah. You could say that,” he replied, running his hands through his hair. “I started fiddling with the piano and guitar when I was a little boy. A family friend taught me.” Alexander remembered Mrs. DeLuca teaching him how to hold a guitar. He remembered her showing him how to curve his hands around the keys of the piano. And most of all, he remembered hearing her daughter sing those beautiful melodies. “You can feel free to come down here anytime you’d like.”

Olivia walked over to the piano, running her fingers over the keys, the cool ivory always a comfort to her. She saw a Martin guitar set on a stand next to the piano. She picked it up and checked its tuning, noting it was perfectly in tune. It must have been played recently. She wasn’t expecting Alexander to have such a beautiful music room.

“And the walls are totally sound proof so you don’t have to worry about disturbing me or anything.” Alexander sat down on a love seat against the wall, watching as Olivia fiddled with the guitar. “Play something for me, Love.”

Olivia smiled as she sat down in a chair in the middle of the room, bringing the Martin guitar with her. She remembered a song that she and Mo used to play quite a bit during her college years. When she was at B.C., she would often invite Mo and the guys over for beers to hang out with Kiera and some of their friends. Usually late at night, after lots of drinks had been consumed, Mo and Olivia would break out a few of her guitars and entertain their late night guests. This song was one of their favorites.

Olivia took a deep breath and closed her eyes as she began playing a beautiful melody. Alexander had heard the song before when he accompanied his brother to a Zac Brown Band concert. Her voice filled the room, the acoustics perfect, mesmerizing Alexander as she played the guitar, focusing solely on the music as if nothing else mattered. She sang an ode to the guitar she held against her body. As he listened to the lyrics, Alexander thought how appropriate the song was. Almost as if she could be talking about herself or the guitar she so lovingly played. Almost as if telling him how much she needed music in her life.

Halfway through the song, Alexander stood up and grabbed one of his other guitars. He watched Olivia’s hands, getting the chords he needed to join her. Sitting in the chair next to her, he played with her, singing along to the chorus as she continued belting out the lyrics. Olivia opened her eyes, smiling at the sound of his soft, sultry voice next to her.

She finished the song and Alexander leaned over, placing a gentle kiss on her lips. “That was fantastic, Olivia. Did you study music in college?” He knew the answer, but she didn’t know that.

“No, actually.”

He looked at her, feigning surprise.

“I know. Everyone thought I would. I mean, I was constantly involved in music groups all through middle school and high school. Everyone thought it was what I would study. But I actually have a degree in exercise physiology.”

“Ah,” Alexander said. “Hence the health club.”

She smiled. “Yeah. I don’t know why I chose that. I mean, I was worried if I studied music, I’d start to hate it. And I didn’t want to hate music. Anyway, music isn’t something you study. It’s something you feel.”

Alexander flashed back. He remembered Olivia’s mother saying those exact words to him as he learned to play guitar and piano all those years ago. And those words had stayed with him ever since.

“What? What is it?” Olivia asked, noticing a distant expression on Alexander’s face.

He quickly returned his attention to the beautiful brunette sitting next to him. “Nothing. Give me that,” he said, placing his guitar on the ground and doing the same with the Martin guitar Olivia held in her hands. The atmosphere in the room became heated as Alexander stared into Olivia’s brown eyes, his heart racing from her beauty.

“Come here.” He raised himself off the chair and held out his hand for Olivia.

She looked at him skeptically before placing her hand cautiously in his.

Smiling, he led her over to the baby grand piano, turning around to face her.

Noticing the expression on his face, Olivia scrunched her eyebrows. “What? Why are you looking at me like that?” Her breathing became ragged in anticipation. She had seen that expression on his face before, most recently the previously night when he brought her back to his place. She knew what he wanted. And she’d be fooling herself if she said she didn’t want the same thing at that moment.

He placed his hands on her hips and lifted her on top of the closed piano lid.

“What are you doing?” Olivia asked.

Alexander leaned in, brushing his lips against her neck, inhaling her scent. “God, you smell amazing, Olivia. Anyone ever tell you that?”

She closed her eyes, lost in the sensation of Alexander’s lips on her skin. “You may have mentioned it once or twice.” She threw her head back, giving him better access to her neck, her body lighting on fire when he began to nibble on her ear. She moaned out in response.

“I want you. Right here. Right now, Olivia,” Alexander said forcefully, bringing her body closer to his as she sat on the piano. “Do you want that?”

She nodded. “Yes, Alexander.”

He brought his lips to hers, kissing her full on the mouth, his tongue tangled with hers. Running his hands up and down her back, he groaned into her mouth.

Olivia pulled him into her, wrapping her legs around his waist, slowly teasing him with her body. She felt his arousal grow and she couldn’t help but smile.

“What’s so funny, Miss Adler?” Alexander asked, pulling out of the kiss and giving Olivia a mischievous grin.

“Oh, nothing.” She pulled his tee shirt and crushed her lips back against his. “I just love how turned on you get. And I know I’m the one who does it to you,” she whispered breathlessly into his mouth before invading it with her tongue once more.

Alexander couldn’t take much more of it. He needed to feel her naked flesh against his or he knew he was going to lose his mind. Pulling out of the kiss, he ripped his tee shirt over his head. “Enough of this. I need you,” he panted.

Olivia grinned. “Losing control so soon, Alex? I was kind of enjoying just kissing you. Maybe I don’t want to have sex right now.”

Alexander placed his hand on her back and pulled her closer to him, feathering his lips against hers once more before trailing kisses across her neck and down her collarbone. She moaned with pleasure. Slowly roaming her body with his hands, he slipped one underneath the waistband of her yoga pants. He found that sweet spot and could feel how wet she was. “Oh really, Olivia? Doesn’t feel like you don’t want me inside you right now.” He lightly clenched his teeth onto her neck, sucking gently. “From the feel of things, I’m pretty sure you want me to fuck you just as much as I want to.”

Olivia moaned at the feeling of Alexander’s fingers slowly toying with her overly sensitized clit and his mouth gently sucking on her neck. In the past twenty-four hours she had more mind-blowing orgasms than she could remember, and she was ready to explode again from just his touch. And that scared her and thrilled her.

“Tell me you want that, Olivia,” he whispered against her skin. “Tell me you want my cock inside you, thrusting in and out, pushing you higher and higher until you can’t take it anymore and you shatter into thousands of pieces all because of how I can make you feel.”

She nodded, certain that Alexander could probably make her cum from his words alone. “Yes. I want that. I want to feel you inside me.”

“Good,” he responded curtly, removing his hand from her pants. “Lie on your back.”

She raised her eyebrows, wondering what he had planned.

“Just do it, Olivia.” He brushed her lips with his. “For once, stop being so stubborn.”

She smiled, nodding. “Okay.” She leaned back, Alexander supporting her back with his arm until she was flush with the top of the piano.

He reached up and lifted her ass, lowering her pants down her legs before kneeling on the ground and placing her legs on his shoulders. “God, Love. You’re so fucking wet. And I do this to you. Don’t you ever forget it,” he said before pressing his tongue against her clit, slowly circling her.

Olivia moaned, knowing that she would never tire of the feeling of Alexander’s mouth on her most sensitive part. She began slowly thrusting against him, the sensation overwhelming her once more. It felt incredible and it all seemed so unreal. Never had anyone else made her want to fall apart as quickly as Alexander could. Her breathing increased as he gently slid a finger inside her, stretching her out.

“You like that?” Alexander asked against her clit, the vibrations of his voice making her squirm.

She nodded feverishly, her body tightening in anticipation of what she knew was about to happen. She was on the brink of another incredible orgasm and she wanted to fall apart but also wanted the incredible feeling of Alexander’s tongue on her to last as long as humanly possible.

“You’re about to cum, aren’t you, Olivia?” he asked thrusting even faster with his fingers. “You always tighten up and your breathing becomes heavy.” He looked at the beautiful woman panting on top of his piano. “And I fucking love that I can make you cum so fucking hard and quick.” He returned his tongue to her, sucking gently on her clit as she convulsed around him, her orgasm lasting longer than any orgasm she had ever had.

After several long moments passed, Alexander stood up, helping Olivia down from the piano. “Now comes the fun part,” he winked, turning her body away from his, trailing kisses down her shoulder blades. “Hold onto the piano for support. And bend over.”

Olivia turned her head, looking over her shoulder at Alexander as he stripped out of the remainder of his clothes.

His expression turned heated. “Just do it,” he said, pressing his hand on her stomach and pulling her against his naked body.

She gasped at his erection on her back.

“Or you’ll regret it,” he whispered against her neck.

Shivers ran through her body as she felt Alexander’s chest against her, his lips barely touching her skin. It was such a unique feeling, her nerves on fire from his deep voice, his amazing touch, and his sensual words.

Nodding her head, she bent over and braced herself using the piano, thinking that Henry Steinway and his sons would be rolling over in their graves at the thought of what she and Alexander were about to use their beautiful instrument for.

She immediately felt Alexander’s fingers between her legs, toying with her clit once more. Closing her eyes, she reveled in the feeling of his expert hands pleasuring her once more. It was mind boggling to think that she just had an amazing orgasm and was ready for another one.

“You like that, Olivia?” Alexander asked as she moaned out in gratification.

“Yes,” she exhaled, her breathing becoming ragged once more.

“Good,” he replied, removing his fingers from her. “And don’t you ever forget how good I make you feel.”

She panted, hating that he had her so worked up and left her wanting.

“Now hold on tight. This is going to be fast and hard.”

Olivia’s heart raced in anticipation. She liked the sound of that.

Almost instantly, she felt Alexander plunge into her, setting a fast pace as he held onto her hips, helping to keep her upright.

“God, Love. You feel so fucking amazing,” he grunted out as he thrusted into her, his brow becoming damp with sweat. “You drive me crazy. You know that?”

Olivia moaned in response, knowing that he did the same to her. No one ever set her off like Alexander did. No one ever filled her and pushed her so close to the edge in a matter of seconds and she was both frightened and overwhelmed at the idea that she finally found someone who could satisfy her in the bedroom and elsewhere.

“You look beautiful from this angle, Olivia.” Alexander reached around and toyed with her clit slowly, bending down to gently nibble on her shoulder blade. “I love the way you taste,” he said, slowing his pace down, withdrawing slowly before flexing back toward her, gradually filling her to the brim.

“Fuck,” she exhaled, the fullness overwhelming her. She was so close.

“And I’m not just talking about your pussy, Olivia,” he explained, pushing back into her before withdrawing yet again. “Your skin, when it’s salty with sweat from me fucking you tastes fucking divine.” He continued toying with her clit as he leaned down and bit her neck, gently sucking on her skin once more.

Olivia screamed out as Alexander quickened his pace, thrusting mercilessly inside her.

“Come on, Olivia. Let me feel it. I know you want to come again. Don’t deny your body.” He feathered kisses against her neck, lowering his voice. “And don’t deny me the incredible sensation of feeling your body shudder around me,” he whispered, pulling on her earlobe with his teeth.

Olivia couldn’t take it anymore. She yelled out Alexander’s name as she came undone, spiraling down from yet another amazing orgasm, wondering if Alexander would always have the same effect on her.

“God, I love making you cum, Olivia,” Alexander grunted before thrusting into her one last time and finding his own release. He held onto her stomach, helping to support her as they both attempted to regulate their breathing.

“Holy shit,” Olivia said, finally finding her voice several moments later.

Straightening up and picking Olivia up in his arms, Alexander planted a long kiss on her lips. “I will never tire of being inside you, Olivia. So I hope you’re ready for the ride.”

She smiled, running her hands through his hair. “Oh, Mr. Burnham. I’m certainly prepared for the ride. Again. And again. And again.” She giggled as she thought of the double entendre.

“God, I love that sound.”

A Beautiful Mess is the first installment of a three part series sure to captivate the heart with a story of secrets, courage, and love.

***T.K. Leigh’s A Tragic Wreck Release Week Blog Party – DAY FOUR***

BLOG-PARTY

****SPOILER ALERT – DO NOT CONTINUE READING IF YOU HAVE NOT YET READ A BEAUTIFUL MESS*****

A Tragic Wreck is a much more emotional read than A Beautiful Mess is. In my first draft of the story I never had Olivia leaving Alexander. But the more I thought about it, the more that didn’t make sense given her character. This is a girl who, throughout her life, was so scared to get close to people. So we needed to see her suffer an immeasurable loss, and a loss that she caused, to make her realize that her ways needed to change. So that’s why I had her leaving. She wasn’t the type of person to change her ways overnight and immediately jump into a relationship. We needed to see the turmoil within caused by her own actions. And that’s what we see while she’s in Florida and then when she returns to Boston. The first half of the book is very emotionally charged and the reader can really feel the character’s emotions; the ups and downs. We cry when they cry. We laugh when they laugh. I loved writing this part of Olivia and Alexander’s story and I hope you enjoy reading about it and it brings you at least some temporary closure in certain respects.

So, tell me… Are you Team Alex or Team Cam?

How can you continue living when you’re living a lie? How can you convince your body to stop feeling, your soul to stop caring, and your heart to stop beating?

Haunted by her past, Olivia Adler flees Boston for a beach in Florida, leaving everyone behind, trying to shut the world out. Remaining a relative recluse in her self-imposed prison, she tries to turn everything off, wanting to feel nothing. But a new acquaintance won’t let that happen. After being away from Alexander for a month, his voice constantly ringing in her head, reminding her that her inability to confront her demons will not only destroy her, but also him, can she really be expected to want to feel again when it brings nothing but pain?

Back in Boston, everywhere he turns, Alexander Burnham is reminded of Olivia… His Olivia… He tries to dull the ache left in his heart the only way he knows how… in the bed of a beautiful woman. But Alexander isn’t about to lose his Olivia. After a clue comes to light regarding Olivia’s whereabouts, can he convince her to return to Boston with him? When a force that has laid dormant for months resurfaces, can Alexander still protect her from the unknown danger? And when Alexander comes face to face with a shadow of both his and Olivia’s past, will he be able to tell her the secret that is threatening to tear them apart?

A Tragic Wreck is the continuation of T.K. Leigh’s heart-breaking Beautiful Mess series.

***T.K. Leigh’s A Tragic Wreck Release Week Blog Party – DAY THREE***

BLOG-PARTY

Welcome to Day 3!!!! A question I get a lot is how I came up with the idea behind these books. Well, it’s hard to really pinpoint where the idea came from. I had a rough concept in my head but it was nowhere near what the story ended up being. A lot has changed since I began writing and I’m very happy with the way everything has turned out. There will be lots of twists and turns. You will get some questions answered by the end of A Tragic Wreck but not all of them. It is a three-book series, although when I was writing Alexander and Olivia’s story, I thought it would be a stand-alone piece until I stepped back and saw I had a 325,000 word manuscript. So I chose to break it into three books.

So I hope you’re all enjoying A Tragic Wreck and for those of you who have already finished it, I hope you got some of your questions answered and the ending left you a little more satisfied than the ending of A Beautiful Mess.  For those of you who haven’t finished it yet, I hope you’ve stocked up on tissues… I think the most heartbreaking part of this part of their story is both of them being surrounded by constant reminders of what they had both lost through everything.

***T.K. Leigh’s A Tragic Wreck Release Week Blog Party – DAY TWO***

BLOG-PARTY

Happy Official Release Day!!!!  WOOT! I didn’t think this day would ever get here. The official release date for A Beautiful Mess was October 8, 2013. My ARCs were finished in mid-August and shortly after they had been distributed, I started to receive great reviews. So I debated whether to hold off and publish on my originally scheduled date or to just go ahead and hit that little publish button early. I had no idea how to promote or market my book yet. Hell, I would have been happy if ten people purchased my book, so I didn’t understand how to build hype. So I hit that little publish button on August 27th, publishing A Beautiful Mess way ahead of schedule.

Little did I know on that date that it would garner the praise and support that it did. It’s still a little overwhelming to hear how much people love Mr. B. and swoon over his devotion to Olivia. There are so many amazing moments in A Tragic Wreck that just makes us feel these characters’ pain even more. This one gets me every time…

A little girl lay in a hospital bed. Tubes were attached to her and a machine measuring her heartbeat maintained a steady rhythm. That’s all Olivia heard for days, the constant beep…beep…beep… Voices sounded around her. She recognized some of them and desperately willed her eyes to open, but she couldn’t muster the strength. She felt something against her arm. Mr. Bear. Pulling the bear closer, she cried, wondering if anyone could even see the tears that fell from her eyes.

Hours passed. Maybe days. Olivia had no idea. She felt a small hand, not much bigger than her own, take hers. It had to belong to a child. “Olibia. You need to wake up now. Please,” the voice begged. Olivia tried and tried to open her eyes, but she couldn’t.

***T.K. Leigh’s A Tragic Wreck Release Week Blog Party – DAY ONE***

BLOG-PARTY

Happy Release Week Party friends! I’m so excited to FINALLY be able to share the continuation of Olivia and Alexander’s story with you all. I loved A Beautiful Mess but I love A Tragic Wreck even more. While I was editing it and getting it ready for publication, even though I had already read it hundreds of times before, I still found myself getting emotional at certain times. It’s a rollercoaster of a story and I hope you are all ready for the ride.

There’s going to be a lot of angst, a lot of screaming at your kindle for the characters to do certain things. One simple action could fix everything, but do they do that? Like here for instance…

God, I love that sound, he thought as his body came alive with electricity. It had been over a month since he had felt that sensation. Looking out over the horizon, his heart raced as he searched for the source of that laughter. He heard that sound in his dreams every night. Only one person had a laugh that beautiful. He was certain his Olivia was near. Grabbing his coffee, he walked over to the edge of his balcony, taking in several people running on the beach.

That’s when his heart almost stopped.

There she was, running up the shoreline toward his hotel. He stilled, watching as she placed one leg in front of the other in rapid succession, her hips moving in perfect rhythm. She made running look so easy.

His brain tried to tell his body to move, to run out of his suite and onto the beach. But he remained completely frozen, shock etched across his strong face. He stared as Olivia stopped running, looking in the direction that she had just come from. He could almost feel her smile as she stood gazing up the beach, laughing at something. Alexander followed her eyes to see a relatively tall man running toward her, obviously having trouble keeping up. He kept watching as she took a deep breath, the smile gone from her face. She slowly turned and looked out over the ocean.

And that’s when Alexander saw it. The sadness. The hurt. The loss. He knew that look all too well.

Because it was the same way he felt.

- A Tragic Wreck (Copyright 2014 T.K. Leigh)

runner-no

To start the party off right, here’s a brand new teaser from A Tragic Wreck.

The pain was back. It never really left, but Olivia had felt hopeful earlier when she decided to return to Boston and pour her heart out to Alexander. But now it had returned and the hurt was too much. She needed something to dull the ache. Her heart beat rapidly and she felt a panic attack coming on. Running to the bathroom, she rummaged through her medicine cabinet looking for the bottle Dr. Greenstein had prescribed to help with her anxiety.

She grabbed it and walked downstairs with her laptop, searching for the bottle of bourbon she was sure had her name on it. Popping two valium, she gulped down the liquid, thankful for the warmth spreading through her body. After throwing another couple of valium pills into her mouth and finishing almost half the bottle of alcohol, the pain … was finally dulled. The last thing she remembered was staring out at the crashing waves of the ocean before the numbness took over.

Deep Thoughts on a Tuesday Morning

Morning all. I’m sitting here in bed drinking my morning coffee and starting to get a little nervous about publishing “A Tragic Wreck” in just 6 days. Everything is so different this time around. When I published A Beautiful Mess, there were no expectations. There was no hype. Hell, I barely had any followers on Facebook. I didn’t expect it to become as popular as it has. Not a day goes by now that I don’t receive a message from a fan telling me how much they enjoyed the book. And I love that. I love hearing from my fans. One thing I absolutely pride myself on is keeping an open line of communication between me and my fans. I don’t ever want to lose that because, no matter what happens, my book will always be out there in the universe and the reason people have read it is because of my ah-mazing fans spreading the word of this book.

Getting back to the nervousness… There is SO MUCH anticipation for A Tragic Wreck. Early reviewers are loving it, and I just hope it lives up to all the hype and expectations I feel surround this book now. I love the excitement and the buzz. This is certainly something A Beautiful Mess never really received before publications. The excitement and buzz about that book came much later. But now, I just hope you all enjoy A Tragic Wreck as much, if not more, as you enjoyed A Beautiful Mess. You are going to want to throw your kindle. You may need a box of tissues. You’re going to scream at Olivia and want to throttle Alexander. You’re not going to want to like Cam, but let me tell you… You’re going to absolutely fall head over heels in love with him… With his words… With his personality…  And with his ability to put everyone else’s needs above his own, no matter what. You’ll learn more about the people after Olivia. You’ll be scared for her. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. And you may just want to follow Alexander’s demands when he’s being the dominant alpha male he is, ordering someone on their hands and knees. ;-) In the end, I think you’ll be content with the way this book ends. It is the second of a three book series, so you won’t get all the answers you want, but this book won’t have you dangling perilously off a cliff, at least I don’t think it will.

On that note, here’s a little teaser from A Tragic Wreck, releasing in just 6 days on January 27, 2014 to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo Books.

She giggled.

It took Cam’s breath away. “That’s quickly becoming one of my favorite sounds.”

Suddenly, it felt as if the floor fell out from under her. It was the second time in two days that Cam said something that reminded her of Alexander. She rewound back to that day she bumped into him running through Boston Common. He had told her the same thing.

“Libby, where did you go?” Cam asked, interrupting her memories. He looked at Olivia, her face paler than he had ever seen it before. He was concerned about the girl who sat in front of him. There was something, or someone, that she was running from, and certain words seemed to be triggers of very painful memories.

“You know what, Cam?” Olivia said before draining her glass. He quickly signaled the server to bring her another. “It’s not the bad memories that hurt,” she quivered. “It’s the good ones that cause the most pain. Those are the memories that stay with you, making you smile. Then you realize that the source of those memories is gone and you’ll never have that feeling again.” She took a deep breath, her voice barely a whisper. “And that is what is most painful.”
